A member asked:

Could a woman in a coma be given an epidural and c-section if the baby is not yet full-term and is in distress?

Yes: It is possible to do a c/section on a woman in a coma. However, if the baby is in distress it may be necessary to use general anesthesia rather than an epidural since an epidural takes a lot longer to place and become active. Fetal distress is frequently a reason to do the c/section very quickly.

Yes: Also depends on how fsr along the fetus is, what is causing the coma.
