Ossicular chain: The middle ear is an air-filled space inside the temporal bone, which is part of the skull. The ossicles (malleus, incus, and stapes) are suspended in the middle ear space by tiny ligaments and 2 small muscle tendons. They are connected to one another by tiny joints. The malleus interfaces with the eardrum, and the stapes with the inner ear via the oval window. The incus connects malleus to stapes
