A member asked:

Hi docs, is it true that prematurely-born children are at greater risk for learning problems later in life?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessarily: If a premature infant has few or no complications of any significance they will grow up with all the brain power they were born with.If one has difficulty during their stay, including prolonged ventilator care, brain hemorrhage, blood poisoning, etc. These issues may injure the brain and cause problems later in life.
