Get educated: Having a parent with depression/anxiety can increase the risk of having a child who is at a higher risk for developing depression. However, many children have a parent with depression/anxiety and never develop it. Environment plays a significant role in the development of depression. The better one is equipped to deal with the stressors that life provides, the smaller the risk.
