Check for stones: Stones in the calyx of the kidney often throw off vry small, gravely pieces that cause irritation on entering the bladder mimicking a UTI. Once passed the symptoms resolve - until the next episode. What works is Pyridium, (phenazopyridine) a good urinary antibiotic and lots of water. Same treatment even for routine UTI but if symptoms last more than 3-4 days you need a workup
