A member asked:

Do you know any ways to prevent vomitting after taking levodopa (l-dopa) for parkinson's disease?

Adding Carbidopa: Sinemet (carbidopa and levodopa) will help as Carbidopa also block GI side effects of L-Dopa.

See your neurologist: Carbidopa is usually coadministered with levodopa to increase the effective half-life of levodopa. This allows less levodopa to be required, which in turn reduces the nausea/vomiting side effects. Be sure to schedule an appointment with your neurologist in order to review your medications for Parkinson's disease. More information: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a601068.html
