TIA: When there is build up of material in the lining of the neck vessels aka plaque or atherosclerosis, firm manipulation of the overlying tissues may cause a tiny piece to break off and enter the brain. This piece may lodge in a small vessel. Thereby causing interruption of blood flow to that area. If the interruption is brief then transient stroke like symptoms may occur aka tia.
