Localized reaction: Localized hives, especially around the mouth is usually due to a contact allergic reaction. Suggest tracking foods, condiments and cosmeticals used on a regular basis and list which ones seem to cause the hives.

Oral allergy synd?: Pay attention to what you put in your mouth. Some people allergic to pollen may react to fruits which cross react with the pollen (birch-apple, ragweed- melons etc). The reaction usually occurs in minutes or a couple of hours. If the welts last more than 24 hrs , then one needs to consider a contact allergy as well.
