Adjunct only: I understand that this is a 79 year old man with myelodysplastic syndrome who is transfusion-dependent. Despite the enormous hype for this concoction as a treatment for iron overload, i can't find a plausible mechanism and everything's anecdotal. I'd expect your experiment to be a complete failure. Your oncologist may recommend an actual iron chelator.
