Unusual but okay: Nuclear cardiac stress test is a nuclear imaging method that shows how well blood flows into the heart muscle, both at rest and during activity. This uses a radiopharmaceutical, such as thallium or sestamibi. However, tc-99m sestamibi, has relatively high liver uptake and studies have utilized this for assessment of gallbladder contraction also. (j gastrointestin liver dis, 2007; 16:157).

Interesting approach: Without seeing the test it is hard to tell what the quality of the test is. However generally speaking a HIDA scan uses a different radio pharmaceutical then a nuclear stress test. However the radio pharmaceutical from the nuclear stress test does accumulate in the gallbladder. Thus if he stimulated you with CCK (cholecystokinin) calculating an ejection fraction of the gall bladder is possible.
