A member asked:

My mom 47 years had total hysterectomy 5 month back and the removed specimen were found non malignant but still my mom had low haemoglobin of 8g/dl?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Another problem: Most causes for hysterectomy are enlarging fibroids, possible sarcoma in fibroids, uterine bleeding from an endometrial lesion. If hysterectomy were performed and no malignancy then post op hemoglobin should have stabilized at around 12. An 8 gm. Hgb is a slow loss of about 4 units of blood and should be looked for in the GI tract as the most common site for HGB drop.
