A member asked:

If my doctor thinks something is wrong with my pancreas and i have the chills and spiked a fever and am really nauseous should i go to the er?

Most likely: The most common symptoms of pancreatitis are severe upper abdominal or left upper quadrant burning pain radiating to the back, nausea, and vomiting that is worsened with eating. Fever and even jaundice might be present. Pancreatitis can be a very serious illness. Only a physical exam and testing can diagnosis it, so if your local doctor is not available the the er is appropriate.

Yes.: A fever that doesn't come down with Ibuprofen or tylenol (acetaminophen) and inability to keep food down would be reasons to go to the er. Your mention of pancreas problems ads another layer of complexity to your case, and you should go sooner. You probably need to get labs and a ct scan to check it out and take care of problems earlier.
