It is not clear what: You mean by "tone." if you mean muscle tone, see your doc to rule out medical conditions and he/she may also check your magnesium level, along w/calcium and potasium. When that is out of balance, often low magnesium, it raises risk of muscle spasams. Another doc can comment on gabapentin, which is prescribed for nerve conditions if he/she likes.

Cerebral Palsy, MS : Many neurological conditions can cause elevated tone (hypertonia). Extensive list includes stroke, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury dystonia, mulstiple sclerosis, hereditary diseases etc. Gabapentin may not be very helpful. Commonly used medications include baclofen, benzodiazepines (e.g. Diazepam) dantrolene, tizanidine.
