Why is male circumcision promoted but female genital cutting illegal ?

Circ has benefits: & contrary to a minority in ca is not mutilation. Circ'd males do not get penile cancer or phimosis & fewer get HIV from unprotected sex. The glans, containing majority of sensory penile nerve endings remains in tact.Female genital cutting/circumcision involves ampuating the clitoris + in some partially sewing the vagina closed. Thus clitoral senastion is lost + need to have vagina opened to wed.

There can be medical: Benefits derived from male circumcision. However, there are no health benefits from female genital mutilation. It can be done w or w/out anesthesia it may involve removal of the clitoral hood, clitoris, inner labia & / or out labia with objects such as a razor, scissors, broken glass or knives. It can lead to severe chronic pain, problems with childbirth, hemorrhage, infections & death.
