Topicals for babies: Topical anesthetics are generally unnecessary and may be dangerous for children under the age of two! see: http://www.clinicaladvisor.com/teething-pain-relievers-dangerous-for-babies/article/243704/ Have them suck\bite on a chilled teething ring instead. Speak to your own pediatrician or pedodontist for advice.

Read the label: The label will give specific information as to use. Follow directions to the letter.

Not for under 2: The main ingredient in most teething gels, liquids, and swabs is benzocaine, an anesthetic that the food and drug administration (fda) says can cause a “rare but serious” condition called methemoglobinemia, in which the oxygen carried through the bloodstream is reduced to dangerous levels. For this reason, do not use this anesthetic for children under the age of 2.

No, and unnecessary : Avoid teeth pain products for children, especially those under two. They are both dangerous and unnecessary. Except for very rare cases, infant teething pain is normal. Give them a cold teething ring or a dampened, frozen washcloth to chew on instead.
