A member asked:

Is it common to hear the result of tests (blood, pathology, ct, mri etc) only by phone or email? in the case there was no problem on the test

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Especially now with electronic medical records, pathology and imaging test results are frequently transmitted to a site that allows you to log in and see the result. Sensitive tests are discussed orally or in person. Because of hippa, no health care organization will directly email you the results -- only tell you where to log in to see them.
