Forget it: No home remedies work for this. None of the creams are worth the money. Prescription pills are very effective but only if taken at the prodrome. Best is valacyclovir 2 grams at once when the first tingling warns of an impending attack. May still help if taken at first appearance of the sore. After the first 12-24 hours it does not matter what you do. Protect from sun (uv) and control of fever redu.
