Ovarian cyst rupture: Pain after a cyst rupture is usually from the fluid or blood irritating the lining of the abdominal wall (called peritoneum). Pain can sometimes persist until the fluid or blood is absorbed, but generally fades over 3-7 days. Workup should include a sonogram of the ovaries and pelvis, as well as a ctscan. If the pain perists, a diagnostic laparoscopy (a surgical procedure) can be considered.
