Moisturize: Keep the skin moisturized with sensitive skin products. Don't over dry the skin with hot baths. Avoid dryer sheets. And fragranced products.

Itching: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can be taken orally to prevent itching. Also, proper care of site with lubrication and any other prescribed meds by your doctor to prevent any future drying.
