Examination: Call the surgeon who extracted your tooth for a post operative exam. Hard to picture what you are describing, especially the "pocket".

Post-surgical: When was extraction done? Was area infected to begin with? Was it a routine extraction or were there compile rating factors? Hard to picture what you are trying to describe. See the General Dentist or specialist Oral Surgeon that did your extraction for post-operative care (part of the surgical responsibility) as he/she knows your pre-op situation best.
