Apthous ulcer?: "canker sores" which are usually apthous ulcerations in the mouth (or cold sores on the lips) are caused by a virus (the hsv-1), which can be exacerbated when on antibiotics that decrease even normal bacterial 'flora' which usually balance out the viruses. So, after a tooth extraction surgery, the stress as well as the antibiotics introduced into your oral cavity, could increase the hsv-1.

Canker sores: This is normal. Canker sores, also known as mouth ulcers or mouth blisters, usually heal on its own in about a week or two. If the sores continue to persist, or are large or painful, visit your dentist. Depending on the nature and severity of the sore, dentists prescribe antimicrobial mouth rinses, corticosteroid ointments, or a prescription to reduce the pain and irritation.
