When you are about to have glasses, can you still do something that will not make you have to wear glass?

Depends: If you are in need of correction of a refractive error, glasses or contact lenses are used. If you are appropriate age, and your refractive error is stable, and not changing, then lasik is an option.

No: If you need glasses to see better, then you should wear them. Alternatively you can do contact lenses.
