A member asked:

If i wear eye glasses and for the left eye a "prisme" glass thats my physician prescriped should i always wear it and for always or my eye will heal ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on cause: Prisms are prescribed to alleviate doubling of vision and to provide relief for temporary paralysis of a muscle. If the muscle is expected to recover, then the prisms can be abandoned eventually (usually in 6 months). If the doubling is permanent, then the prisms might be needed long term. Surgery might also be considered for this situation.
