Late periods: Late periods is not a sign of menopause. Absence or periods or better off irregular periods associated with mood instability, night sweats and hot flashes would be more suggestive of perimenopause. If you missed a period and pregnancy test is negative, you may continue checking for pregnancy especially in the face of symptoms suggestive of it. After Mirena (levonorgestrel) irregular periods are common for a while.

Menopause? : Mirena (levonorgestrel) can cause menstrual irregularities including absence of period which may persist a few weeks after removal. However you are in the age range of onset of menopause. In any case to definitely call it menopause you would need to have no period for 12 months straight. Follow up with your gyn provider if there are other symptoms associated.
