Dry socket: Pain medication will just cover up the problem, but not solve it. Placing dry socket medication usually relieves or eliminates the pain in minutes to hours. Extra strength tylenol (acetaminophen) should be fine but discuss this with your dentist as well. If the socket itself was not packed with medication, have it done or see another dentist.

Ouch! Painful: If you are not getting relief fro advil and have stomach upset, you could try tylenol (acetaminophen). Be careful you don't take too much bc that could be bad for liver, best to talk to your oral surgeon or dentist so he/she can make you more comfortable. Good luck.

Yes: Yes you can use tylenol (acetaminophen) as an alternative , however you should also see your doctor for change of dry socket medication as well.
