Perhaps: you treat your vocal cords nicely (i.e. not screaming) & perhaps when you have had viral infections they didn't go straight for your larynx. Consider yourself lucky. I was a cheerleader in high school - and typically had lost my voice by the time I had to sing in church choir on Sunday mornings. Avoid voice strain.
