Parental death: Absolutely! a child of this age would not fully understand the concept of death but would be able to experience a sense of loss/absence and great sadness. This would fade faster for this age group as oppsed to an oldr child or adolescent. A very caring /nurturing and consistent environment would be crucial to help such a child cope successfuly.
