Two weeks is a little quick. Your butt is made up of muscles that extend your hips and move your legs to the side. Walking or running up hills or stairs is repeated extention of the hip after you take a step up. Interestingly, going slowing up the stairs or a hill in a slightly squatted position with your feet placed wide part is the best way to use the butt muscles in a way that strengthens them.
