Schizophrenia: Recommend comprehensive eval by a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist to accurately diagnose Schizophrenia. Antipsychotic medications are indicated & antidepressants may be needed for cooccurring depression. Psychoeducation for the patient & family is important as is psychotherapy (such as cognitive behavioral therapy), a strong support system & a community based treatment team.
