A 39-year-old female asked:

i've taken care of the itching from ringworm on top of my right hand with tinactin, (tolnaftate) but how can i treat the redness/inflammation under the blisters?

Ringworm infection: Ringworm infection is caused by fungus and rarely causes blisters. If you did not get seen i strongly recommend for u to see ur doctor for an accurate diagnoses. If it is fungal infection and tinactin (tolnaftate) did not help you may need to take a prescription medicine by mouth.

Can I bathe my baby when he has tender skin spots on his hands and feet, etc?

Yes: It is ok to bathe your baby, even with tender spots or a rash. However if your baby seems really uncomfortable you may want to make an appointment with your pediatrician. Remember babies do not need a bath every day- this could dry out their skin and make it prone to peeling or increased tenderness. Instead, bathe every 2-4 days.

Lately i've had skin rashes and itchiness. Should I use calamine lotion or aloe?

Either: Either may help with symptoms. Hydrocortisone cream which is available over-the-counter may both relieve the symptoms and help get rid of the rash. Antihistamines like claritin, zyrtec and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) will also help for both.

How long will it take to partially heal a boxer's fracture (broken hand)?

Bone healing: Bone healing , the process begins immediately hematoma/soft callus/ hard callus ( see diagram) so in a way partial healing is present right away ! if you mean how long until there is enough structural integrity to sustain range of motion without loading, the short answer is 3-4 weeks but this is very dependent upon the fracture and how it has been treated . Sorry to say but...Ask your doctor.

A Few Things: Low blood sugar and low blood pressure can be seen together in patients with sepsis, an addisonian crisis, some other things. The 2 don't necessarily go hand in hand. People with diabetes and other metabolic conditions will often have low blood sugar, but normal blood pressure. There are other conditions where blood pressure is low and sugars are normal like pots, etc.
