Scratches: I'm not familiar with any skin rashes that look like scratches. Could your son be inadvertently scratching? Otherwise a dermatologist could identify the rash.

Need to see it.: It is always difficult to try to diagnose a rash without being able to actually see it. I would advise you have your pediatrician look at this. Some possiblities are that he is actually scratching (usually at night) when you are not observing him. How old is he? Where are the marks? Are they actually abrasions or are the more like raised welts? Again, hard to try to diagnose without seeing it.
