Pain or swelling: Finger dislocations are common from minor injuries. If there is pain, swelling, bruising, deformity and difficulty with range if motion you should suspect a dislocation. The joint can relocate spontaneously or may require a physician's help. Seek medical advice and have an x-ray done. Usually a simple problem to correct unless there is also a fracture or other complication.
