Yes: At age 25 i doubt the arthritic changes are that significant. Unless the pain is major, you should be able to work. You had a total colectomy so i assume you have ulcerative colitis. If that is the case be sure you do not have ankylosing spondylitis as the cause for your back pain. See a rheumatologist.
