A member asked:

What can cause acute bloody diarrhea and lower stomach pain? elevated wbc, elevated neutrophils, low lymphocyte. went to er, treated with iv fluids. felt 100% better in 2-3 hours. had fish that night.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Colitis: Your symptoms are consistent with acute colitis. Colitis is inflamation of the colon. Most likely you have a bacterial colitis that could have been caused by contaminated food. Most colitis will resolve with fluids and time. If a stool culture was done it may show the causative organism which may or may not need antibiotics to treat.
