Had an xray of the chest and upper abdominal echo for lymph nodes. if heart was enlarged, would it have showed on the xray or echo?

Yes: If you have long term enlarged heart, it shows on x-ray, echo shows enlarged heart too, if you had echo of heart. It will show all 4 heart chambers, valves and pumping.
