For better gait: Adductor lengthening or ' hip muscle release' is the releasing adductor muscles of hip 9 muscles that move the thigh inside .This operation is needed in children with conditions like spastic muscle problem to improve gait ( scissoring ) , prevent future hip dislocation and bone surgery. Bed ridden nursing home pts with contractures to help better toilet care.

Tenotomy: A muscle is usually released at the tendinous portion. Around the hip, this may include hamstrings, adductors, abductors, flexors.

Hanging hip: An early rx used years ago was called this. All muscles were released in an attempt 2 decrease the tension across the joint ; decrease the pain.
