Are you a doctor?: The decision to give an antibiotic is based on a culture and sensitivity report of the tonsillar culture. If you are not a doctor, you should never make a medical decision. If your husband has a viral infection, antibiotic treatment may make him worse because you are destroying normal flora in the back of the throat. See and ENT doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.
