Colchicine = NSAID: Colchicne is in the family of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories. It will help inflammation and pain of any origin. However, it has been specifically been proven to help with the condition called pericarditis, or inflammation of the lining of the heart.

Yes : I do agree it helps but it is not my first choice unless it is related to gout . I prefer using nsad drugs first.

Unlikely to help: Colchicine is relatively benign. The most frequent side effect is diarrhea. Once you stop it the diarrhea resolves. Colchicine can work for pericarditis. Are you sure your cardiologist said costalchondritis? It is not know to work for costalchondritis.

Yes, might help!: I have not yet prescribed Colchicine for costochondritis, personally, but it is a treatment that is discussed. My first line treatment is usually heating pad and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, such as Motrin or aleve (naproxen).

It can help: It can help, although generally NSAIDS, even ibuprofen, such as alieve, should help.
