Hypnagogic jerk: It is called a hypnagogic jerk ; is an involuntary muscle spasm occuring spontaneously or induced by sound, light or other external stimuli and can be accompanied by hallucinations, dreams, sensation of falling, or loud noises coming from inside the head. 60 to 70 percent of people experience them. Some scientists believe stress, anxiety, fatigue, caffeine and sleep deprivation contribute.
