Yes: A lot of dentists who intend to place implants refer their patients to other places where they have cone beam if they do not have one . The other place will give them 3d x ray with. Report . They will bring it to the referring dentist where they are getting the implant placed.

CBCT: Ideally a full mouth CBCT is a marvelous screening tool, and if you have not had one done in over 3 years it may be time to take a good look around. The amount of radiation is considerably less than you would think. Discuss this with the Dr. who takes the film. Additionally, at your Dentist's request the field can be reduced to only about 1/4-1/3 of your arch.
