I take cardizem cd 120mg and vytoryn 10/20 -it comes up as major interaction-should i notify my dr's about this.they are prescribed by 2 different drs?

Yes, notify: In general, any doctor prescribing for you needs to know all other medications that you are taking. Cardizem (diltiazem) can increase the level of Simvastatin in your blood (one of the components of vytorin). However, you are on a very small dose of the Simvastatin so the chance of a significant problem is extremely low. Blood tests of liver function would pick up a problem.

Yes : As you know, Cardizem CD and Vytorin interact with one another and resulting in increased levels of the statin in Vytorin and an increased risk of its side effects, like muscle damage. Sharing your entire med list with every doctor you see is a good habit to get into and may help you avoid situations like these by allowing them to potentially adjust your doses or choose alternative medications.
