Viral cultues: There are so many viruses related to the common cold: adenovirus, rhinovirus, influenza virus, echinovirus, etc...That the only way to determine coronavirus would be a viral culture.

Follow up: Typically viral illnesses that effect the respiratory tract are self limited to 10-14 days. A prolonged cough, sputum production, chest pain and your malaise suggest inflammatory changes or another unrelated problem. Treatment for influenza may be considered. Is there a fever? sore throat? Please see your PCP.
