I had covid in 2020 although it wasnt bad i still have a minor cough that wont go away as well as shortness of breath that has become a concern. in august i caught a cold it was and still is in my chest and unproductive along with a cough?

You may have some residual bronchospasm that worsened with your recent upper respiratory infection. You should see your doctor and get a bronchodilator inhaler as well as a steroid inhaler. If you use these inhalers for a few weeks, you may feel a lot better and then you can try stopping them to see if the symptoms stay resolved. Good luck!
