Sure!: Ovulation is release of the egg from the ovary.
Women are born with millions of eggs contained in follicles in the ovary. In monthly waves a small group of these begin to grow.
Hormones from the pituitary gland stimulate a single follicle to mature and a final surge of hormones signals release of the egg.
The follicle produces hormones which prepare the uterus for pregnancy.
