How much alcohol will cause permanent damage to my liver?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Why do you ask?: Staying drunk for more than a few days puts you at risk for alcoholic hepatitis which has a fair chance of killing you. Thankfully it's fairly uncommon. Fifteen pint-years is usually required for cirrhosis, the really permanent injury (say 3 pints of whiskey / day for 5 years) but drink like this & you have a fair chance of losing control and/or damage your brain and/or do something you'll regret.
