Yes: The removal of visually significant cataracts are a medical condition that health insurances and medicare cover. There are certain so called 'premium' lenses that have an extra non-covered patient charge.

Medicare pays for CS: Medicare pays for majority of cataract surgery. Extra costs if a patient desires a refractive implant or advanced implant to correct for astigmatism &/or reading vision & for laser cataract surgery, which helps many patients in long term recovery, decreased risk, complication rates.
