Not normally: In selected cases, liposuction has been should to improve glucose tolerance for diabetics much like weight loss. However, this requires large volume liposuction and is not a recommended indication for liposuction. Liposuction works best for men and women who are near their ideal body weight, and who have stubborn disproportionate areas of fat that can be contoured.

Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure and normally not performed for health reasons. However, some studies have shown a slight improvement in patients who suffer from diabetes. This, however, is not an indication for this surgery.
