A member asked:

Is there a risk of infection with tumescent liposuction? does the smaller incision size reduce the risk of infection in tumescent liposuction, or is it still a possibility?

Smaller : Smaller incisions do definitely decrease the risk of infection but there is no such thing as no risk. Make sure that the facility and surgeon as certified and the risk should be low for infection.

Infection : Infection rates are extraordinarily low with liposuction. I personally have never experienced an infection post liposuction. It should of course be performed under sterile surgical technique and of course by a board certified plastic surgeon. Best of luck to you.

The : The risk of infection exists in any type of surgery. In liposuction with tumescent anesthesia this risk is significantly reduced. In my 17 years of practicing plastic surgery and performing liposuctions every week, I have not had a single infection and i think it holds true with the majority of plastic surgeon. I put emphasis on plastic surgeons. Good luck from nyc. For more info visit www.Drgrossman.Com.

It is possible: Everytime you go through the skin, there is risk of infection, be it with a needle or knife.
