Could general anaesthesia make your heart stop?

Dr. Eli Loch answered

Medications: There are a variety of medications that can be used to induce general anesthesia. Many of them have some effect on the heart and vascular system although it would be very unusual for them to cause such a severe effect. In this day and age, anesthesia itself is considered very safe.
