Athletic pubalgia: Sports hernia is a term typically used for groin pain in an athlete (athletic pubalgia), often in the absence o a hernia on physical exam. It is a hotly debated topic, and perhaps a consult with a general surgeon interested in hernia disease may help. You can find one at the americas hernia society website. Hope this helps!

As previously mentioned u could see a general surgeon or alternatively an Orthopaedic surgeon. In my practice I see referrals mostly from Ortho docs. And the way I prefer to make the diagnosis of sports hernia for my patients & referring docs is with MRI using specialized sequences and imaging planes. The diagnosis can also be made by US & I have used that modality in my practice in Michigan.
